Hi, I'm Caleb.
I'm a worship leader and song writer from Calgary, Alberta. For the past 20 years I have been leading worship in churches large and small. My favourite moments leading people in singing songs about God are when time seems to stand still and we get lost in the wonder of a God who is impossible to describe in words. As indescribable as God is, I love trying to portray even just a small part of His character through music. Personally, I am always encouraged by songs that have stood the test of time. Hymns. And I love revitalizing these songs so they hit our ears, our minds, and our hearts in new ways. That's the heart behind Hymns II.
Let me tell you about HYMNS II
My dream for this project is to create an album of reimagined hymns with new life brought to old words. I want the listener to feel like they are hearing the words again for the first time while stepping into an immersive worship experience. We recorded and filmed this project in November of 2020 in Invermere, BC. It happened to be just the right secluded spot and moment in time to allow a project like this to come to life, even in a pandemic.
There's a passage in Isaiah chapter 6 that has provided the template for these song choices. It's all about the realization of who God is, culminating in our response to Him. I'm excited to share a new take on these songs with you. Some of them you will know, some of them might be new to you. We're also not rushing through these songs. We're not aiming for three and a half minute radio singles, we aim to draw you in to an experience. This 6 song album will be over 35 minutes long. Here are the tracks you can look forward to.
